Jesuit Excellence Tour: Here come the JET’s

They’re back! Once again, representatives from the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) will be hosting Jesuit Excellence Tour (JET) College Nights in Baltimore and DC.

Perennially popular undergraduate destinations, the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities form the institutional membership of the AJCU. Although each college is separately chartered and entirely autonomous, the schools are bound by a common heritage, vision, and purpose.

And they work hard to attract students from all walks of life.

For this purpose, the Jesuit Excellence Tour is a “series” of recruitment events that takes place in 20 metro areas across the country.  They typically feature any combination of the 28 member Jesuit colleges and universities.

Although daytime activities mainly target parochial high schools, JET College Nights are open to the public.

These night fairs will give students from the local area an opportunity to meet with representatives from Jesuit Universities from across the US—from as far as California, Colorado, and Alabama,” explained Andrew Cevasco, admission counselor at Loyola University Maryland. “Though all Jesuit Universities vary in size, programs, and location, all of the schools share the same values—a dedication to cura personalis or ‘care for the whole person’ and a commitment to community service and social justice."

The Baltimore-DC JET will run from March 10 to 14 this year.  There will be night fairs at Loyola Blakefield on Monday, March 10, from 6:30-8:00, and at Georgetown Prep on Thursday, March 13, from 7:00-9:00, in the Hanley Athletic Center.

For students just beginning to consider colleges or seniors making final enrollment decisions, JET College Nights offer opportunities to connect directly with college admissions representatives and to learn what each school has to offer.

Note that JET College Nights are held in other parts of the country.  In fact, the Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse JET takes place this week, and tours in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, New York, and Boston are scheduled after the JET’s leave the Baltimore-Washington area.

For more information, check directly with any of the 28 AJCU member colleges or visit the JET Facebook page for a schedule of events for the rest of the year.
