The first National Portfolio Day scheduled within driving distance of Washington DC will take place on Saturday, November 7th, at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond. Students interested in pursuing higher education in the visual arts or design should definitely take advantage of this opportunity to meet with representatives from NASAD-accredited arts programs who will be available from noon to 4:00 p.m. to review artwork and offer advice on portfolio development. Among the colleges participating at VCU will be the Ringling College of Art & Design, Pratt Institute, Maryland Institute College of Art, California College of the Arts, Cooper Union School of Art, Corcoran College of Art & Design, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Free and open to the public, sign-in begins at 11:00 in front of the VCU Fine Arts Building, 100 West Broad Street. Future area Portfolio Days are scheduled for December 5th, at the Corcoran College of Art & Design in Washington DC, and December 6th at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. The program wraps up on January 24th, in Sarasota FL, at the Ringling College of Art & Design.
